A Real Arizona Cardinal

Wickenburg is home to this Cardinal. It lives along the Hassayampa river to the north of town. This was the female as the other cardinal was bigger and brighter but after running I ( I mean walking as fast as I could) I missed the male. But I like this Photo.

AUNT ANNIE'S TEA By Tom Stanley Janca

Come for some tea, spend some time with me.
Aunt Annie's tea, was not always free.
Though she made it especially for me.
She was such a host, with her sweet rolls and toast.
But can you fix my fence post, 10 minutes at most.
That door squeaks and my grass needs a cut.
What about my window it cannot be shut.
Water the trees, pull out the weeds.
Plant my garden with all these seeds.
now sweep off the front porch and we will have lunch.
I think your hungry that's my hunch.
Ice tea, sweet rolls and cinnamon toast of course.
Better have enough for a horse.

LITTLE DESERT PRINCE By Tom Stanley Janca

There he was at the top of the peak.
To be where he was you can not be meek.
I watched the young sheep from my spot at the creek.
Though my cameras eye was somewhat unique.
I watched him, run, jump, dance and prance.
He was a young prince I could tell by his stance.
The land below would be his home as far as he could see.
His family was all around teaching him the way to be.
Pure joy radiates as I watched him posture against the sky.
He is oh so spry.
I feel his pure heart, his love of family, of life, from the creek way below.
Standing so proud, so expectant of the good life that surrounds him so.
I heard his call, "ba baaa, ba baaa, ba baaa."
I knew it meant, Look at me! Look at me! Look at me.

CHICKENS BY TOM STANLEY JANCA

I give thanks to all the chickens I have ate.
The thousands of eggs I appreciate.
With out chickens I would probable be dead.
Even more praise of course be said.
Of all the bugs they ate, how does that rate.
Pest control and food too. What a system!
All in one, Will you listen?
With out chickens there would be no fun.
Just dire starvation.
Fried chicken, baked chicken, chicken pie, chicken stew even chicken on the bar-b-cue.
Oh and chicken soup, thank you for the medicine too.
Even thank you for the alarm clock at 3 or 4 am.
What a bird I must declare! I hope you all win the grand prize at the county fair. If it were up to me! To thank you for our economy.
I would put your picture on the dollar bill.
I would but they never will.
